PROFILE

A primary school teacher for 15 years, Nanda Garikapati was born in Andhra Pradesh and grew up in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) and Hyderabad. As a child, she was given a lot of exposure to explore and experience. At the age of ten, she gathered a group of children and organised a show which became my first hand experience as a leader and was apreciated by the elders. Right from childhood she was very keen on getting into the teaching profession. When she was 18, she was given an opportunity to take over lower kindergarten in Nagarjuna Public School. After teaching for a year, she realised the importance of teacher training and joined pre-school training at Princess Esin Women's Educational Centre, Purani Haveli at Madina in Hyderabad. She was placed in Nasr School for practice teaching. Begum Anees Khan, the principal of Nasr school became her role model and she says she never missed a single teacher's meeting as she was inspired by every word of hers.

She is also much inclined towards creativity and art and has conducted Hobby shows, Puppet shows and workshops. At present, she is also running a centre called Sai Brinda - a centre for creative learning. The response to this center has been very good. She has also done MS-Office in computes and writes books for the kindergarten age group.
