The teacher of the month for September, 2003 was unanimously selected. The winner is
Ms Beena Sugathan.

PROFILE

Ms Beena Sugathan has been teaching English for nearly 19 years. She has taught in a number of prestigious schools in the state of Gujarat and is presently working in a reputed convent school in Delhi. Married to an IAS officer, her husband's frequent transfers have given her the opportunity to teach in various parts of the country. This dedicated teacher has been the primary driving force for thousands of students in their pursuit of mastering the fundamentals of the English language, particularly grammar. An inspiration to many students, her patience and amiable disposition have always made her a favourite among her students.

After graduating from the Union Christian College, Alwaye, Kerala, she did postgraduation from Maharaja's College, Kochi, Kerala, and subsequently did her B. Ed. Recently, she received a special award from the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for her meritorious efforts in school education under their programme, the All India Competition on Innovative Experiments and Practices (2002-2003), organised by the Department of Teacher Education and Extension at the National Institute of Education, New Delhi. Her award-winning essay was titled Newspaper Materials for Language Practice.

Beena Sugathan has published several ELT books on grammar and comprehension and has worked as a Content Developer for an ELT website for over an year. She is the author of a series of English Comprehension books for Classes I to VIII entitled, Between the Lines published by us.
