PROFILE
"It is a challenge to be a specialist English
educator and trainer and I perform best under
pressure," says Mary Alexander, who still
approaches each class with the same zest and preparation
as twenty years ago when she first started teaching.
Having
taught English at both the high school and college
levels, Ms Alexander has the rare ability to communicate
effectively and productively at all levels. At
present, she teaches English at Clarence High
School, Bangalore, which is also, incidentally,
her alma mater.
Ms Alexander completed her college
education from Jyoti Nivas College, Bangalore
in 1980. Then she did BSc from Maharani College
in 1982 and BEd from Annamalai University, Chennai
in 1984.
She
began her career as and English Lecturer at S
L N College of Arts and Commerce. Then she taught
at National English School, Bangalore before moving
to Mumbai in 1985 where she taught at Christ Church
School till 1987. Later she went to Kerala and
taught in a couple of schools there. Then she
moved back to Bangalore in 1994 and has been teaching
at Clarence High School ever since.
An
avid lover of performing arts, Ms Alexander is
also involved in several socially useful works
for the youth. At present she is putting together
a series of textbooks for the ICSE curriculum.
