PROFILE
Mrs Geeta Sood, senior teacher of English has
been with Somerville school, Noida, since 1992.
She has studied in several convent schools across
the country including Presentation Convent, Srinagar
and St Mary's, Pune. She graduated from the Government
College for Women, Chandigarh and did her Masters
(English) and B Ed (English and Social Studies)
from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. .
A
daughter and now a wife of an army officer, Mrs
Sood has travelled the country extensively. She
began her teaching career at an army school in
Babina and has thereafter taught in many schools
in different parts of the country. Her vast experience
as a teacher in different schools and areas has
given her rare insights into the students' psyche.
Education, she says, is more than just academics-character
building is an essential component. Indeed, at
Somerville, she is in charge of Value Education.
She has also been evaluating Board papers for
almost a decade now.
Mrs Sood, who counts painting
and music among her special interests, is actively
involved in extracurricular and intra-school competitive
activities in the school. To help students shed
their fears and inhibitions and encourage them
to discover their hidden talents and skills has
been among her major achievements.
