
The teacher of the month for January, 2001 was unanimously selected. The winner is Ms Sutapa Basu, Delhi Police Public School, B-4, Safdarjang Enclave, New Delhi.

CAREER
She was born in 1957 and though she belongs to Bengal, owing to her father's army postings, she did her schooling from convents at various places. She passed out from the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Ambala, in the Science stream. She graduated with Honours in English Literature from Viswabharti University, Santiniketan. She completed B.Ed from Maharaja Sayajirao University and postgraduation from HN Bahuguhna University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in English Literature from Meerut University.
She has actively participated in and conducted inservice-teacher training workshops in the sixteen years of her career. She has also done a course in the Development of Structural Cognitive Modifiability from the Research Institute of Israel.
CAREER PROFILE
She has been the Vice Principal of Airforce School, a secondary school with 1000 plus students at Hasimara.
As HOD, English at Delhi Police Public School, she has initiated, coordinated and implemented the ELT programme from KG to XII from 1996 till date. For the advancement and success of this programme she has trained the teachers through seminars, simulations and workshops. She is the resource person for SCERT and has trained MCD teachers for the Delhi Government's recent launch of English in the MCD schools.
She has also been a CBSE evaluator for classes X and XII since 1996. She has been the NIE and PACE coordinator for 'The Times of India and 'The Hindustan Times' respectively.
She has authored 'Open Windows X' a book which complements the CBSE syllabus for X.
She freelances as a journalist and has had several articles and features published in leading publications on education, current events and environmental issues. As the Editor of the school magazine, she has been actively involved in the design, layout, publishing and soliciting of the corporate sponsorship for the same.
Recently she scripted, composed, wrote lyrics for, choreographed and directed a 150 participant musical 'Peter Pan'.
She has compered and anchored fashion shows, soirees and quizzes at home and abroad, some of which were patronised by the King of Bhutan.
