PROFILE
Ms Renu Kumar has nearly 30 years of teaching
experience in prestigious schools across the country.
At present, she is Head, Department of English
at Blue Bells International School, Delhi where
she had been teaching for the last 17 years.
Ms
Kumar did her schooling from Oak Grove School,
Mussoorie. She graduated with Honours in English
from Delhi University in 1965 and BEd and MA from
Bombay University, in 1974 and 1978 respectively.
She also did an MEd from Himachal Pradesh University,
Shimla.
Awards
and recognitions come naturally to Ms Kumar. Having
been awarded with the best teacher award in almost
all the schools that she has taught in, she has
also been awarded with the best teacher award
in 2006, by the Public School Federation of Delhi.
She regularly organises workshops for in-service
teachers on instructional objectives and personality
development of students. Similar workshops are
also organised for parents to guide them through
adolescent problems and related topics.
Ms Kumar has compered quiz competitions on All
India Radio and written plays for children, one
of which was telecast by Jalandhar Doordarshan.
Ms
Kumar feels it is important for a teacher to have
an open mind, to be a learner, to accept criticism
even from the students and above all, to love
them. "An ounce of love is better than a
ton of advice," she says.
Ms
Kumar has travelled extensively in India and abroad
and counts reading and visiting museums and art
galleries among her hobbies.
