The teacher of the month for Apr, 2006 was unanimously selected. The winner is
Mrs Joyita Chakrabarti, Delhi Public School,
Noida.

PROFILE

Mrs Joyita Chakrabarti has been teaching Social Science in Delhi Public School, Noida since November 2000.

She studied in Holy Child Auxilium, New Delhi and completed her post graduation in History from Delhi University. This was also the time when her tryst with awards and recognition began. She was honoured with Jugal Kishore Memorial award for securing second position in MA. Subsequently, Delhi University awarded her with merit scholarship after she completed her B.Ed from Central Institute of Education.

She began teaching Social Science at the prestigious Naval Public School, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, in 1989. After that it was, as she says, "pay back time". She wanted to reciprocate by teaching in the school where she got her first lessons. She joined as a Trained Graduate Teacher in Holy Child Auxilium where she taught the senior classes.

Before she joined Delhi Public School, Noida more than five years ago, Mrs Chakrabarty also served as the Head of the Department of Social Science, Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas, New Delhi.

Mrs Chakrabarti is passionate about her subject and feels that to inculcate the same passion among the students at a time when unconventional subjects seem more enticing, the teachers will have to innovate and inspire and indeed these are what she does best!
