Ms Susan George.

PROFILE

Ms Susan George has been a teacher for more than 30 years now. She teaches at Father Agnel School, Gautam Nagar, New Delhi.

Ms George's education began in various schools in Africa including the Aga Khan School, Arusha in Tanzania and The Indian Public School, Kampala, Uganda. She completed her Class 12 from the Dragon School, Kuching, Malaysia.

She graduated in English literature from the prestigious Stella Maris College, Chennai in 1972 and did her masters from the same institute as well. She acquired a B Ed degree from the Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara, Gujarat.

Ms George began her teaching career in 1974 in Mapanza, Zambia. She returned to India and taught in the IPCL School, Vadodara in 1978 before joining Father Agnel School, New Delhi in 1982.

This is her 25th year with the Father Agnel School and needless to say both have benefited immensely from each other. She has tried to incorporate a 'thinking' syllabus into the school curriculum. A great follower of Edward De Bono's formula for developing parallel thinking, and also of the Multiple Intelligences theory, Ms George has tried to design a curriculum to help the students develop their individual skills for more effective learning.

Having been born and brought up in a family of teachers, teaching has been a passion with Ms George. After spending a busy day in school, she manages to spare time for the students of the local municipality and helps them with their schoolwork.
Apart from these, Ms George contributes articles in newspapers and regularly attends teaching workshops. She went to Australia in 2005 on a Teacher Exchange Programme conducted by the Australian High Commission in coordination with the Asia Education Foundation.
